Basan Shrestha, Trainer

Introduction: This is an era of data and visualization. Organizations and professionals need data to inform decision making and planning. Statistics is a science of collecting, measuring, analyzing, and visualizing data. Excel is a widely available computer application with a vast potential to compile, analyze and visualize data. The web-based communication technologies have availed distant learning and sharing opportunities. Besides, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has restricted movement and social gathering. In this context, GrowInnova is hosting an online training on "Statistical Analysis in Excel".

Training Objectives: The main objective of the training is to provide knowledge and hands-on practical skill on statistical data analysis using a spreadsheet. The specific objectives are to introduce:

1.      knowledge on nature of data and data entry techniques

2.      descriptive statistical functions to measure centrality and spread of data

3.      statistical functions to measure association among variables

4.      inferential statistics related functions for hypothesis testing

5.      graphical measures to visualize data

Contents

·   Data and database management (data type, data recording format, variable and table naming convention, data validation)

·   Descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, measures of central tendency and dispersion)

·   Distribution functions (Binomial distribution, Normal distribution)

·   Correlation

·   Regression (bivariate and multivariate)

·   Cross tabulation and non-parametric test (Chi-square test)

·   Parametric tests (T-Test, One-Way-ANOVA)
